Hi — I’m Dr. Amy Sewart, a Licensed Psychologist (CA PSY 33236; NY 26268; TX PSY 39442) specializing in evidence-based therapies. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UCLA, where my research and clinical training focused on improving our understanding and treatment of emotion-related disorders, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use.

I am board-certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). I’ve received extensive training in evidence-based therapies through UCLA’s Anxiety & Depression Research Center, Depression Grand Challenge Innovative Treatment Center, and Integrative Substance Abuse Programs. I completed my APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the Veteran Affairs San Diego Healthcare System, where I specialized in trauma and dual diagnosis.

Prior to moving fully into private practice, I led several programs at UCLA’s Screening and Treatment for Anxiety & Depression Clinic (STAND) and contributed to research projects associated with UCLA’s Depression Grand Challenge. From 2020 to 2023, I served as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at California State University, Dominguez Hills.

I believe exceptional mental health care should be as accessible and personalized as possible. My psychotherapy services are designed to offer you support, flexibility, and individualized care. Why Work With Me?

Expert
Care.

I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, where I received rigorous academic and clinical training. I continue to work alongside leading experts in evidence-based treatments for emotion-related challenges to stay at the forefront of the field. My priority is to provide my clients with the most effective tools and strategies to navigate emotional difficulties and achieve meaningful, lasting change.

Easy
Access.

I maintain a small caseload to ensure that each client receives my full attention and a high level of care. By focusing on a select number of individuals, I can dedicate the time and energy needed to deeply understand your unique needs and provide personalized, effective support.

Flexible
Scheduling.

Life can be unpredictable and demanding. Your mental health is a priority, and I want to ensure that you can access the support you need, when you need it. By providing flexible scheduling options, I can accommodate your busy lifestyle, making it easier for you to prioritize your well-being without added stress.

Personalized
Approach.

Every individual is unique, with their own experiences, needs, and goals. While evidence-based, manualized interventions are highly effective and grounded in research, they are not a one-size-fits-all solution. By tailoring these approaches to fit your specific challenges and circumstances, I can provide care that is both personalized and more impactful, ensuring the strategies we use align with what works best for you.

Self-report measures are valuable tools for gaining deeper insights into your well-being. They can highlight areas of concern, track your progress over time, and uncover patterns that may not surface during our sessions. By regularly using these measures, we can ensure our work remains aligned with your evolving needs and adjust our approach to provide the most effective support.

Data-Driven
Treatment.
